The Guide System Servers provide secure connectivity and synchronization of data from the technical documentation repository and 3rd party MRO/ERP systems. APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) provide diverse integration capabilities with existing systems using both legacy and cutting edge methods.
Guide DocumentationServer
Guide DocumentationServer, typically located at the organization’s headquarters or IT center, serves as system’s main data repository, responsible for storing and deploying technical documentation throughout the entire Guide System. Content acquisition from 3rd party content management platforms is performed using Guide Content APIs, which enable automatic, ongoing documentation updates to be submitted to the Guide DocumentationServer from external sources through the use of the GuideML™ SGML format.Guide GroundControl
Serving as a hub for the various system components, Guide GroundControl is located in bases, airports or local sites’ service office. Guide GroundControl server provides the connection between technical documentation, work assignments and maintenance activity tracking data. It is used to synchronize content and data with the Guide DocumentationServer, organizational ERP system and the Guide Mobile devices deployed remotely at the point of service. It allows for accumulating usage data and performing data analysis, providing the support for online monitoring and control through the Guide Portal application.Integration through APIs
Guide GroundControl exposes a set of API’s enabling a smooth and managed integration solution for existing Maintenance Management, Dispatch, Maintenance Planning and ERP systems. Guide architecture is based on the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) paradigm. This means that much of the functionality offered for external systems is the same as the one used by the system itself. Using SOA, integrations are quick, simple and safe as much of the logic is maintained by the integration connection itself. Most APIs are exposed using industry standard Web Services.Guide exposes 3 types of APIs:
-
Activity API
-
Content API
-
Intelligence API
Using the Guide “Activity APIs”, external systems can submit work assignments, manage users and permissions and acquire status updates for tasks. Integrating Guide with external systems creates a new value for those systems where they become self-updating and provide a much more accurate picture of the real status of maintenance activities in remote locations.

Guide “Content APIs” allow for IETM systems to submit new and updated technical documentation to the Guide DocumentationServer in the form of SGML. Additional metadata on top of the content may also be applied by using these interfaces, to best utilize Guide mobile interactive abilities for content display and use in the field.
For the purpose of in depth analysis, optimization and incident examination, data mining and analytic systems can use the Guide “Intelligence APIs”. This set of APIs provides access to raw usage data collected in the core database of the system. This data can be used to analyze exact user behavior patterns, compare history data and look for anomalies.
